3D weld inspection with maximum accessibility
With most robot-supported weld seam inspection sensors, 5–10% of the seams have to be inspected retrospectively because the inspection optics cannot reach them. The 3D weld inspection sensor MICO from our partner company SmartRay is so compact and narrow that it can also reach and inspect such weld seams effortlessly. With its lance-shaped sensor design, MICO can inspect anything that can be welded.
Particularly in the case of components with many weld seams, conventional test sensors cannot reach certain welded areas well or not at all. These seams have to be subsequently tested again using a different test approach, which again causes time and costs.
Time is money in automated production. The 3D weld inspection sensor MICO achieves 3,000–4,000 profile cuts per second at approx. 3–4 Hz, which means it is 50 % faster than conventional inspection systems. This means that you also automatically increase your profitability.
